Second member of staff for The Lihou Charitable Trust

The Trust is please to announce that we have appointed a part time member of staff to help the warden. This will enable The Trust to continue to progress and improve the facilities and services that can be offered to both school and private groups.

50th Anniversary of The SS Torrey Canyon Oil Spill

50 years ago today the SS Torey Canyon oil tanker ran aground when taking a short cut between the Scilly Isles and Lands End. The effects were felt over a huge area including Guernsey and Lihou Island.

RAMSAR Walk

Many people are aware Lihou is part of a RAMSAR site but many people are unaware what this actually means. There is a self guided walk that explores the area and helps explain the purpose and importance of this designation.
2016 Guernsey Met Office Annual Report

Every year the Guernsey Met Office produce an annual report that includes data gathered from the weather station situated on Lihou Island. Worth a read as it also includes data on tides and astronomical events for 2017.
