Lihou House is now the proud guardians of a system of power generation appropriate to the location.
Thanks to Jon Heaume who donated the equipment, Lihou will be able to run most of the time without the use of a generator and the associated costs of this. Currently we use around 8000 litres of diesel each year running the generator that powers the house and the water treatment plant. All this diesel has to be transported over the causeway which is a very important and sensitive RAMSAR site. By using alternative energy we will be reducing the chance of harming this environment by hugely reducing the amount of fuel oil moved over the causeway.
